Well I lettered 60 signs & made two more today. If I do say it I am improving greatly. Leonard Clark & his buddy came down from Santa Anna to visit me. They ate chow here then went to the Hollywood Canteen with me. After we went to the Florentine Gardens and saw a 2 hour floor show. Leonard’s pal had to get on the floor with one of the girls. They hitch hiked back to camp and I got off at Wash Blvd. Got home at 2:00.
Wed, October 20, 1943
Spent the day getting the trailers spotted & getting things straightened out. We had our big trailer operating by eve & done our first job in it. We asked the Capt if we could use a truck for a liberty run & he OKed it & 10 of us went into Bury St. Edwards to the dance. It was piss poor & we cam back about 11:00. We had a hell of a time cracking jokes until past midnite when we all finally got some sleep.

Storm let up today at noon but sea is still rough as hell. Played poker some today.
